Tangled

This work is one of my occasional departures from my usual style – it is said that variety is the spice of life – although not entirely, since, even here, I rely on layers to  bring out the work, this time on a heavy, all cotton, fine art paper. The colours are much more muted than I would normally choose; and I quite liked the combination of the rough edges on the paper together with that motif and the muted colours. I layed down an abstract expression of the trees, and underbrush, of an area of parched bushland. This has a mild sheen to it; and overlaid on this, with a more matt effect, is my representation of an amount of tangled overgrowth. Hence the title.
